Hosea 4

4:1 Hear the word of Jehovah, ye children of Israel; for Jehovah hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor goodness, nor knowledge of God in the land.
4:2 There is nought but swearing and breaking faith, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery; they break out, and blood toucheth blood.
4:3 Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field and the birds of the heavens; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.
4:4 Yet let no man strive, neither let any man reprove; for thy people are as they that strive with the priest.
4:5 And thou shalt stumble in the day, and the prophet also shall stumble with thee in the night; and I will destroy thy mother.
4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I also will forget thy children.
4:7 As they were multiplied, so they sinned against me: I will change their glory into shame.
4:8 They feed on the sin of my people, and set their heart on their iniquity.
4:9 And it shall be, like people, like priest; and I will punish them for their ways, and will requite them their doings.
4:10 And they shall eat, and not have enough; they shall play the harlot, and shall not increase; because they have left off taking heed to Jehovah.
4:11 Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the understanding.
4:12 My people ask counsel at their stock, and their staff declareth unto them; for the spirit of whoredom hath caused them to err, and they have played the harlot, departing from under their God.
4:13 They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and terebinths, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters play the harlot, and your brides commit adultery.
4:14 I will not punish your daughters when they play the harlot, nor your brides when they commit adultery; for the men themselves go apart with harlots, and they sacrifice with the prostitutes; and the people that doth not understand shall be overthrown.
4:15 Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Beth-aven, nor swear, As Jehovah liveth.
4:16 For Israel hath behaved himself stubbornly, like a stubborn heifer: now will Jehovah feed them as a lamb in a large place.
4:17 Ephraim is joined to idols; let him alone.
4:18 Their drink is become sour; they play the harlot continually; her rulers dearly love shame.
4:19 The wind hath wrapped her up in its wings; and they shall be put to shame because of their sacrifices.

Proverbs 11:16-31

11:16 A gracious woman obtaineth honor; And violent men obtain riches.
11:17 The merciful man doeth good to his own soul; But he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.
11:18 The wicked earneth deceitful wages; But he that soweth righteousness hath a sure reward.
11:19 He that is stedfast in righteousness shall attain unto life; And he that pursueth evil doeth it to his own death.
11:20 They that are perverse in heart are an abomination to Jehovah; But such as are perfect in their way are his delight.
11:21 Though hand join in hand, the evil man shall not be unpunished; But the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
11:22 As a ring of gold in a swine’s snout, So is a fair woman that is without discretion.
11:23 The desire of the righteous is only good; But the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
11:24 There is that scattereth, and increaseth yet more; And there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth only to want.
11:25 The liberal soul shall be made fat; And he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
11:26 He that withholdeth grain, the people shall curse him; But blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.
11:27 He that diligently seeketh good seeketh favor; But he that searcheth after evil, it shall come unto him.
11:28 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; But the righteous shall flourish as the green leaf.
11:29 He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind; And the foolish shall be servant to the wise of heart.
11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; And he that is wise winneth souls.
11:31 Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: How much more the wicked and the sinner!

1 John 4:7-21

4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is begotten of God, and knoweth God.
4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
4:9 Herein was the love of God manifested in us, that God hath sent his only begotten Son into the world that we might live through him.
4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
4:12 No man hath beheld God at any time: if we love one another, God abideth in us, and his love is perfected in us:
4:13 hereby we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
4:14 And we have beheld and bear witness that the Father hath sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
4:15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God abideth in him, and he in God.
4:16 And we know and have believed the love which God hath in us. God is love; and he that abideth in love abideth in God, and God abideth in him.
4:17 Herein is love made perfect with us, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as he is, even so are we in this world.
4:18 There is no fear in love: but perfect love casteth out fear, because fear hath punishment; and he that feareth is not made perfect in love.
4:19 We love, because he first loved us.
4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, cannot love God whom he hath not seen.
4:21 And this commandment have we from him, that he who loveth God love his brother also.
