Jeremiah 26-27

26:1 In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, came this word from Jehovah, saying,
26:2 Thus saith Jehovah: Stand in the court of Jehovah’s house, and speak unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in Jehovah’s house, all the words that I command thee to speak unto them; diminish not a word.
26:3 It may be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way; that I may repent me of the evil which I purpose to do unto them because of the evil of their doings.
26:4 And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah: If ye will not hearken to me, to walk in my law, which I have set before you,
26:5 to hearken to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I send unto you, even rising up early and sending them, but ye have not hearkened;
26:6 then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.
26:7 And the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of Jehovah.
26:8 And it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that Jehovah had commanded him to speak unto all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people laid hold on him, saying, Thou shalt surely die.
26:9 Why hast thou prophesied in the name of Jehovah, saying, This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate, without inhabitant? And all the people were gathered unto Jeremiah in the house of Jehovah.
26:10 And when the princes of Judah heard these things, they came up from the king’s house unto the house of Jehovah; and they sat in the entry of the new gate of Jehovah’s house.
26:11 Then spake the priests and the prophets unto the princes and to all the people, saying, This man is worthy of death; for he hath prophesied against this city, as ye have heard with your ears.
26:12 Then spake Jeremiah unto all the princes and to all the people, saying, Jehovah sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that ye have heard.
26:13 Now therefore amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of Jehovah your God; and Jehovah will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you.
26:14 But as for me, behold, I am in your hand: do with me as is good and right in your eyes.
26:15 Only know ye for certain that, if ye put me to death, ye will bring innocent blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon the inhabitants thereof; for of a truth Jehovah hath sent me unto you to speak all these words in your ears.
26:16 Then said the princes and all the people unto the priests and to the prophets: This man is not worthy of death; for he hath spoken to us in the name of Jehovah our God.
26:17 Then rose up certain of the elders of the land, and spake to all the assembly of the people, saying,
26:18 Micah the Morashtite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah; and he spake to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Zion shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.
26:19 Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him to death? did he not fear Jehovah, and entreat the favor of Jehovah, and Jehovah repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus should we commit great evil against our own souls.
26:20 And there was also a man that prophesied in the name of Jehovah, Uriah the son of Shemaiah of Kiriath-jearim; and he prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah.
26:21 And when Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty-men, and all the princes, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death; but when Uriah heard it, he was afraid, and fled, and went into Egypt.
26:22 And Jehoiakim the king sent men into Egypt, namely, Elnathan the son of Achbor, and certain men with him, into Egypt;
26:23 and they fetched forth Uriah out of Egypt, and brought him unto Jehoiakim the king, who slew him with the sword, and cast his dead body into the graves of the common people.
26:24 But the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to death.
27:1 In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, came this word unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying,
27:2 Thus saith Jehovah to me: Make thee bonds and bars, and put them upon thy neck;
27:3 and send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the children of Ammon, and to the king of Tyre, and to the king of Sidon, by the hand of the messengers that come to Jerusalem unto Zedekiah king of Judah;
27:4 and give them a charge unto their masters, saying, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, Thus shall ye say unto your masters:
27:5 I have made the earth, the men and the beasts that are upon the face of the earth, by my great power and by my outstretched arm; and I give it unto whom it seemeth right unto me.
27:6 And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field also have I given him to serve him.
27:7 And all the nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son’s son, until the time of his own land come: and then many nations and great kings shall make him their bondman.
27:8 And it shall come to pass, that the nation and the kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, saith Jehovah, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.
27:9 But as for you, hearken ye not to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreams, nor to your soothsayers, nor to your sorcerers, that speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon:
27:10 for they prophesy a lie unto you, to remove you far from your land, and that I should drive you out, and ye should perish.
27:11 But the nation that shall bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, that nation will I let remain in their own land, saith Jehovah; and they shall till it, and dwell therein.
27:12 And I spake to Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying, Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live.
27:13 Why will ye die, thou and thy people, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, as Jehovah hath spoken concerning the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon?
27:14 And hearken not unto the words of the prophets that speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon; for they prophesy a lie unto you.
27:15 For I have not sent them, saith Jehovah, but they prophesy falsely in my name; that I may drive you out, and that ye may perish, ye, and the prophets that prophesy unto you.
27:16 Also I spake to the priests and to all this people, saying, Thus saith Jehovah: Hearken not to the words of your prophets that prophesy unto you, saying, Behold, the vessels of Jehovah’s house shall now shortly be brought again from Babylon; for they prophesy a lie unto you.
27:17 Hearken not unto them; serve the king of Babylon, and live: wherefore should this city become a desolation?
27:18 But if they be prophets, and if the word of Jehovah be with them, let them now make intercession to Jehovah of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of Jehovah, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon.
27:19 For thus saith Jehovah of hosts concerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases, and concerning the residue of the vessels that are left in this city,
27:20 which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took not, when he carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem;
27:21 yea, thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that are left in the house of Jehovah, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem:
27:22 They shall be carried to Babylon, and there shall they be, until the day that I visit them, saith Jehovah; then will I bring them up, and restore them to this place.

Psalm 119:1-32

119:1 Blessed are they that are perfect in the way, Who walk in the law of Jehovah.
119:2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, That seek him with the whole heart.
119:3 Yea, they do no unrighteousness; They walk in his ways.
119:4 Thou hast commanded us thy precepts, That we should observe them diligently.
119:5 Oh that my ways were established To observe thy statutes!
119:6 Then shall I not be put to shame, When I have respect unto all thy commandments.
119:7 I will give thanks unto thee with uprightness of heart, When I learn thy righteous judgments.
119:8 I will observe thy statutes: Oh forsake me not utterly.
119:9 Wherewith shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to thy word.
119:10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: Oh let me not wander from thy commandments.
119:11 Thy word have I laid up in my heart, That I might not sin against thee.
119:12 Blessed art thou, O Jehovah: Teach me thy statutes.
119:13 With my lips have I declared All the ordinances of thy mouth.
119:14 I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, As much as in all riches.
119:15 I will meditate on thy precepts, And have respect unto thy ways.
119:16 I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.
119:17 Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live; So will I observe thy word.
119:18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold Wondrous things out of thy law.
119:19 I am a sojourner in the earth: Hide not thy commandments from me.
119:20 My soul breaketh for the longing That it hath unto thine ordinances at all times.
119:21 Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed, That do wander from thy commandments.
119:22 Take away from me reproach and contempt; For I have kept thy testimonies.
119:23 Princes also sat and talked against me; But thy servant did meditate on thy statutes.
119:24 Thy testimonies also are my delight And my counsellors.
119:25 My soul cleaveth unto the dust: Quicken thou me according to thy word.
119:26 I declared my ways, and thou answeredst me: Teach me thy statutes.
119:27 Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: So shall I meditate on thy wondrous works.
119:28 My soul melteth for heaviness: Strengthen thou me according unto thy word.
119:29 Remove from me the way of falsehood; And grant me thy law graciously.
119:30 I have chosen the way of faithfulness: Thine ordinances have I set before me.
119:31 I cleave unto thy testimonies: O Jehovah, put me not to shame.
119:32 I will run the way of thy commandments, When thou shalt enlarge my heart.

1 Timothy 6:1-10

6:1 Let as many as are servants under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and the doctrine be not blasphemed.
6:2 And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but let them serve them the rather, because they that partake of the benefit are believing and beloved. These things teach and exhort.
6:3 If any man teacheth a different doctrine, and consenteth not to sound words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
6:4 he is puffed up, knowing nothing, but doting about questionings and disputes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
6:5 wranglings of men corrupted in mind and bereft of the truth, supposing that godliness is a way of gain.
6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain:
6:7 for we brought nothing into the world, for neither can we carry anything out;
6:8 but having food and covering we shall be therewith content.
6:9 But they that are minded to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and hurtful lusts, such as drown men in destruction and perdition.
6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil: which some reaching after have been led astray from the faith, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
